Lipstick Can Be Harmful To Modern Ladies’ Teeth

Monday, June 27, 2011

LipstickMost modern women wear lipstick very frequently, being unaware of the fact that some types of this cosmetics can actually be harmful to their dental health. According to Brazilian specialists at the University of Sao Paulo carried out a series of scientific researches and experiments. They tested 10 most famous and popular brands of lipstick and found out that using most of those can eventually lead to increased risks of dental plague and other dental problems.
The scientists studied chemical composition of the cosmetics product. It turned out that the majority of lipsticks contain hard paraben wax, a sticky substance which can easily get stuck to our teeth together with food particles and numerous bacteria. This way, an excellent environment for bacterial growth and dental plague development is created, and it is possible to avoid such negative effects only by brushing teeth very frequently. Therefore, prolonged use of lipstick causes small damages of tooth enamel leading to formation of cavities.
According to Antonio Xavier, one of the leaders of this interesting research, lipsticks contain really small amounts of such paraben wax, but using lipsticks on a daily or regular basis can cause the above mentioned dental problems even within 2-3 months. In order to avoid possible negative effects of using this cosmetic product, Brazilian dental specialists intent to create a special spray which would be able to protect tooth enamel from the wax and pathogenic bacteria.  It is estimated that an average woman who regularly uses creams, mascara, lipstick and other cosmetic products, every year receives up to 2 kilos of harmful chemical compounds.

Sugar-Free Foods Can Be Harmful To Our Teeth

Many of us frequently use sugar-free products with the aim to protect our teeth from harmful effects of sugar. Especially, parents like giving sugar-free bars and products to their children in order to lower the risks of damaging children’s teeth. However, the specialists ring the bells saying that such products are very often overfilled with acidic and other types of additives, which can be not less but even more harmful to our teeth than sugar. The same can be said about sugar-free drinks.
Sugare Free FoodsWhen choosing a product in the markets or shops, modern consumers usually look ate sugar content. But they do not realize that other ingredients can also be as bad. The specialists tested more than 85 popular sugar-free snacks, including the ones of such popular brands as Kellogg‘s and Nestle. It turned our that all of those products have harmful acidic elements, and the same can be said about commercial orange juice. Brad Schmitt, a nutritionist, comments on the study: “Kids love their muesli bars and fruit snacks but parents should limit them to be a once-a-week treat.”
Acid damage is sometimes more dangerous than sugar damage, because it not only weakens the enamel and erodes the minerals in it. It also extremely increases teeth sensitivity and makes tooth enamel more vulnerable for harmful activity of sugars. Many specialists consider acid erosion even more dangerous than damage  from sugar as the former causes enamel demineralization, and the latter is more likely linked to cavities and tooth decay. That is why we all should be careful of consuming sugar-free foods thinking that the risks of damaging teeth are minimized.

Dental Checkups Can Help Reveal Other Health Problems

Monday, May 2, 2011

The issues of dental care and personal hygiene are among the most topical social concerns of modern health care enthusiasts. According to the statistics, due to high prices for dental services and the requirements of our business life, very often we neglect visiting a dental specialist every 6 months for a regular checkup. This tendency is increasing, making public dental health get worse and worse.
In particular, specialists found out that lots of American people have such serious dental problem as gum disease, but they are not aware of the fact as they do not visit their dentists regularly. The same can be said about other dental diseases, which are closely linked to many serious health conditions and ailments, including heart disease, arthritis, hypertension, diabetes and many more. If we do not do regular dental checkups, we have no opportunity to get important information and prevent the development of other diseases which are very serious and sometimes even lethal.
Regular CheckupsThis issue became a subject of interest of a group of dental specialists at one of the scientific centers in Virginia. As a result, one of the leaders of the research, Charles Martin, wrote a book which tells the wide audience how much oral hygiene is important for our overall health and what role it plays for maintaining excellent health or for effective weight management.
Martin underlines that in case if anything is not right in the body, there are always signs in our oral area. Therefore, dental checkup is one of the most effective ways to reveal other health problems, starting from common sore throat and ending up with increased risks for heart disease. He says that if the situation with children is more or less acceptable as children have regular checkups in their schools, adults must pay serious attention on the problem. That is why the dental specialist encourages citizens to buy affordable discounted dental plans and never miss regular checkups at their dentists.

Dental Problems Are A Curse Of Rich Women

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Nowadays, the world’s leading scientists and dental care specialists are trying to analyze possible problems and risks related to dental diseases from all possible angles and points of view. In particular, recently the results of one of the most interesting analytical researches were published in scientific magazines in the US. A group of American specialists from the University of Maryland found out that rich people tend to have dental problems more frequently than the people with average or below average income.
Rich WomenThe experiments and interviews lasted for about 9 years, and in the end of the ends it became clear that modern rich women visit their dental care specialists more frequently than less rich ladies. At that, the most common problems that wealthy women have include dental plague and decaying teeth. According to the statistical results of the research, it is estimated that rich women visit their dental specialists approximately 3 times more frequently than other less wealthy women. What could be a reason for this, specialists asked themselves?
Certainly, there could be more than one reason causing this interesting phenomenon, but according to the finding of the study, the most important cause of this difference in dental health between wealthy and less rich women is their nutrition approaches and habits. Dental specialists are convinced that rich women tend to be less careful about their nutrition and, in particular, eat much more of sweet and sugary products than their less wealthy sisters. That is why tooth enamel of wealthy women tends to cause more problems and make those ladies run to the dentists more often. Fortunately, rich women are supposed to have enough money for quite expensive dental care of our times

The More Teeth You Lose, The Higher Your Chances To Have A Stroke

Friday, April 29, 2011

It was one of the most controversial and most interesting scientific findings that were recently published in some reputable scientific journals like the Journal of Periodontology. A group of Swedish specialists found out that the number of the teeth a person has strictly linked to the person’s chances to have a stroke. Certainly, the less your own teeth you have, the higher risks you have to die of a stroke. This relationship between the risks of a stroke and the number of teeth was found and researched for the first time in history of the humanity.
The studies and experiments lasted for 12 years, and the scientists observed and analyzed the data of more than 7,500 men and women with various dental problems. Most of the participants had periodontal disease, and for the time of the research, 629 participants died, at that 299 of them died of a cardiovascular disease. Despite of the fact that the specialists had to omit other socio-economic factors, they came to a conclusion that the number of own teeth is directly linked to the risks of a stroke.
The Number Of TeethAnders Holmlund, the leader of the research, comments on the findings as the following: “A person with fewer than 10 of their own teeth has a seven times higher risk for death by coronary heart disease than a person of the same age and of the same sex with more than 25 teeth left.” He says that “The number of natural teeth a person had left could reflect how much chronic inflammation one has been exposed to in a lifetime.”
The specialists comment on the study saying that not the number of the teeth that are left in a person’s mouth, but the number of the teeth lost should be important for estimating the risks of having a stroke. They suppose that the decay and purulence can be absorbed by the blood and get collected in the heart, this way jeopardizing its normal function. In anyway, this subject can spark an interesting public polemic in the future.

Dental Hypnosis Can Help Overcome Dental Phobias

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Dental HypnosisLots of people are terrified only with one thought about visiting their dentists. Mostly, they are afraid of pains, numbness, swelling and other types of discomfort which come when anesthesia is gone, but many also shiver while hearing a sound of a dental drilling device. Also, it is especially hard for those patients who are allergic or can not tolerate anesthesia, and their dental phobias are really disturbing. That is why millions of people avoid visiting their dentists on a regular basis, making public dental care go worse and the number of dental problems increased.
Fortunately, German dentists found an interesting solution for reducing the occurrence and negative effects of dental phobias. The specialists at the German Society of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy (DGH) offer modern dental clinics and dentists try using hypnosis to calm down fears and anxiety of their patients. According to the reviews of DGH specialists, this dental hypnosis can be effectively used to increase the quality of dental services as well, because in most situations dental specialist can feel patient’s anxiety and fears, therefore he or she gets tense and sometimes can’t do the job well. That is why dental hypnosis is beneficial for the dentist as well giving him better opportunity to focus.
Stephan Eitner, the President of the DGH says: “Concentration is the first thing we do. The dentist speaks with the patient in a way that diverts the patient’s thoughts from anxieties and focuses them inward, he said, comparing the mental state with “daydreaming“. Other German specialists, like Georg Duenzl, a board member of  the Milton Erickson Society for Clinical Hypnosis (MEG), find this approach very interesting and promising. However, everyone underlines that additional research is necessary to study possible reactions of the patients on the personal or environmental factors.  In particular, it is considered that dental hypnosis will not work for the patients with mental disorders, because their behavior under hypnosis is very hard to predict.

Sedation Dentistry, One More Solution For Dental Phobias

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

To continue discussing the previously mentioned issue related to increasing number of people who suffer from severe dental phobias, we’d like to talk about another very effective technique to calm down stresses and fears related to visiting a dentist. Many modern dental clinics and dental offices are offering their clients an interesting approach to treating those patients who fear of dentists: sedation dentistry.
sedation dentistryAs it becomes apparent from its name, sedation dentistry involves giving a certain sedative medication to a patient before starting actual dental treatment. Usually, a sedative is administered orally (as a pill) or intravenously. Specialists define two types of sedation dentistry techniques: conscious SD (when the patient remains awake and aware about what’s going on during the procedure) and unconscious (or sleep) SP (when the patient remains asleep during the procedure).
Actually, there are three levels or types of sedation dentistry. The first one embraces applying Nitrous Oxide, known also as ‘laughing gas’ which is believed to help patient feel more relax and establish a good connection and trust between the patient and the dental specialist. Oral conscious sedation is the second level. It involves giving the patient a special pill, which slows down metabolism of the patient and his responses slow down substantially. Oral conscious sedation
pill makes patients feel a little drowsy and considerably less sensitive to pain and discomfort linked to dental procedures.
Finally, the third type of sedation dentistry approach is called Intravenously Administered (IV) sedation. It mean using a small line in order to administer a medication and keep the patients, who have severe fears and cases of dental phobias, asleep during the whole period of the procedure. It is reported that all these three approaches work fine for the majority of the patients and can be used regardless of the type of dental procedure: a missing tooth replacement, tooth restoration, dental filling placing and so on. Learn the Tips on Flossing Your Teeth

Monday, March 28, 2011

Tooth brushing is the most popular and effective technique of oral hygiene. However, as a rule, your toothbrush can not reach all the areas in your mouth, especially the spaces between your teeth or under your gum lines. Therefore, pieces and particles of food remain in those areas and create a favorable environment for plague to develop and cause tooth decay, gum disease and other unwanted consequences. Fortunately, there is a great solution for this problem.
Flossing is another important dental procedure that supplements brushing and helps to improve your oral health. It involves using so called “dental floss” or “floss”: a thin nylon or plastic thread that is used for scraping your teeth, especially the areas around the gums. The earliest types of dental floss appeared in the United States in the beginning of the nineteenth century. Nowadays, dental floss with special textured surface area or with advanced tension control design is available, and for your convince it is supplied as ribbon in a plastic dispenser or as a pack of floss filaments. You can use waxed or unwaxed floss, thin or strong one, flavored one or the one with no flavor. Finally, there is a special tool called floss pick that can be used for flossing.
Flossing includes the following procedures:

  • Flossing Stage 1 Cut an 18-inch piece of your floss.
  • Wrap about a half of the floss around the middle finger of your hand.
  • Wrap a half of the rest of the floss around the middle finger of your other hand.
  • Hold your floss tight with your thumbs and forefingers
  • Glide the floss very gently between your teeth. Avoid harsh movements, as well as snapping or forcing the floss.
  • Flossing Stage 2 When you feel that the floss reached your gum line, curve the floss in the shape of the C-letter around the base of your tooth and start scrapping your tooth by sliding the floss up and down very carefully.
  • Repeat the same procedure for all of your teeth using a clean area of floss for every tooth.
  • Do not forget to floss behind your back teeth.
  • Finish flossing session with rinsing your mouth with drinking water.
For the beginners, flossing procedure may seem to be a bit difficult, but after several minutes of practicing one can learn the secrets of effective flossing very easily. Essential Information About Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening SmileIn our modern society, pearly white teeth are considered to be the main factor that defines attractiveness of a smile. That is why nowadays, teeth whitening is a very popular dental treatment that is demanded by thousands of people around the world. Whitening is a dental procedure that means bleaching your teeth with the help of some natural materials or chemicals. Our teeth are permanently under effect of various colorants containing in our foods, drinks, medicines, tobacco or cosmetics. The other factors that can affect the color of our teeth include age, traumas and accidents, smoking, our eating habits, genetic factors, having certain antibiotics, and so on. Fortunately, modern whitening techniques are very effective for bringing back beautiful natural white color of your teeth and making your smile enchanting and captivating.
There are several methods of teeth whitening, which can generally be classified as the methods of clinical teeth whitening (the procedures that must be implemented by dental professionals in their cabinets or clinics) and at-home methods of teeth whitening (using whitening toothpastes, whitening gels or strips, special whitening kits, etc.). The results of such procedures are strictly individual: some people can have noticeable improvements of the color of their teeth, but some people can be left unsatisfied with the outcomes of the procedures. Anyway, average results of teeth whitening can be represented as the following:
Teeth Whitening
A number of teeth whitening procedures can be done at home. The easiest, cheapest and most popular technique is using whitening toothpaste, which contains abrasive and polishing chemical elements. Also, it is possible to use special peroxide-based whitening stripes or gels, which are available in every drugstore or pharmacy. Such products must be applied regularly to your teeth for about a two-week period of time, but the first results can be noticed within the four or five days after the beginning of the treatment. In-office bleaching is one of the most popular clinical whitening procedures. It involves applying a special whitening gel with further treatment of your teeth with laser, heat or light that stimulate activity of the gel. The results of this procedure usually can be seen in 30-60 minutes.
Teeth whitening is quite a common procedure, which, however, is connected with several risks. The most significant risk is increased sensitivity of teeth after whitening sessions, because bleaching or treatment with abrasive chemicals slightly damages the enamel. The other risks associated with whitening include irritation of soft tissues in the mouth that usually lasts up to three days, and possible problems with tooth restorations as they do not change color after teeth enamel whitening procedures. That is why people with gum diseases, problematic enamel, sensitive teeth and other dental problems, people with very dark or damaged teeth, as well as children, old people, pregnant and nursing women must choose to avoid teeth whitening.
Nevertheless, if you are determined and really want to try one of those miraculous aesthetic procedures, consult your dental specialist about the most effective whitening methods that will not be harmful for your teeth. Also, ask for independent opinions of the people who may have already tried one or another teeth whitening methods. Finally, be very careful when using special teeth whitening toothpastes, gels and other whitening agents for at-home whitening. Never forget that safe and effective teeth whitening requires professional equipment and control of an experienced dental specialist.

Dental Chewing Gum

The effects of dental chewing gum on our oral hygiene has been an arguable issue for many years. Many specialists found it beneficial to chew some sugarless chewing gum after meals since it stimulates saliva production, helps to rinse away tiny pieces of the foods, as well as neutralize the effects of some bacteria and acids, eventually lowering the risks of developing dental plague and cavities. However, some experts used to point out potential problems, related with dental chewing gum. In particular, those include possible problems with temporomandibular joints, which can lead to muscle fatigue, discomfort or even headaches. Besides, specialists claim that some sugar-free chewing gum can contain some sorts of sweeteners, which can be dangerous to our dental health.
Chewing gum
Nowadays, a great variety of dental chewing gums with xylitol are available in our markets and pharmacy shops. A great number of competent researches and studies found evidence for positive effects and the importance of xylitol for the improvement of oral hygiene. Xylitol can inhibit the development of many oral bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans and substantially reduce dental decay. Xylitol is used in many foods as a sweetener, and it also occurs naturally in many fruits, berries, as well as such foods as lettuce, corn, mushrooms and others. Every day, our body produces up to 15 grams of this useful substance, which is quite sufficient for tooth decay prevention.
Recent studies show that regular use of dental chewing gum with xylitol can assist in decreasing dental plague formation and lowering the risks of tooth decay up to 80%. Moreover, using dental products with xylitol is claimed to help in preventing ear infections in children and lower the risks of having earaches up to 40%. Besides, according to the specialists, chewing dental gum with xyliol can provide a relief for those people, who have dry mouth. Finally, dental chewing gum with xylitol have very pleasant taste, as well as excellent cooling and refreshing effects.
Smile
It is absolutely individual choice, whether to use dental chewing gum or not. Some people simply do not enjoy chewing and prefer brushing or flossing their teeth after having meal. Besides, a lot of other dental products wit xylitol, such as pastilles or gummy candies, are currently available for everyone. However, using a dental sugarfree chewing gum with xylitol for 5-15 minutes 3-5 times a day (preferably, after every meal) is recommended as an effective solution for decreasing the amounts of cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth, refreshing your breath and improving your dental health.

A Revolution in Dentistry: Decayed Tooth Enamel Regowth

Sunday, March 27, 2011

A group of Australian specialists from the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Oral Health Science, leaded by Professor Eric Reynolds and Dr. Nathan Cochraine, recently came up with a new technology in tooth enamel restoration. This innovative approach can help to re-grow enamel of a decayed tooth, this way giving an opportunity to avoid using filling, and possibly prevent and even reverse tooth decaying process. Many experts are convinced that this promising technique should be considered a new revolutionary breakthrough in modern dentistry.
The treatment includes application of a strong solution (containing such elements as calcium, fluoride, phosphate and other constituents) on the affected tooth and keeping the solution overnight. “The localised application of the mineral treatment re-grows the crystals of the tooth, repairing damaged tooth enamel,” Nathan Cochraine comments in the results of the hard work. At that, the specialists used only natural materials derived from cow’s milk for preparing the solution. The ions of natural calcium, phosphate and fluoride can be stabilized and encouraged to diffuse into the enamel, improving the quality of the crystal lattice.
There is no need to mention new opportunities and horizons for the humanity which can be opened due to this innovative technique. “Dentists who have patients showing signs of early decay will be able to prescribe the nightly use of the remineralisation treatment for a given period, potentially avoiding treatments such as fillings and extractions,” the specialists underline. The invention is expected to be presented soon at the international conference the Pathfinders: the Innovators Conference at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.

Stewed and Roasted Vegetables Can Harm Our Teeth

The Naked Chief Jamie Oliver made the people throughout the world like vegetable stews and oven roasted vegetables. If cooked with love, such meals are very tasty and, in addition, they are considered to be very healthy and useful for our body. In particular, stewed and oven-roasted vegetables are beneficial for our digestive system. However, according to a research carried out two years ago by a group of specialists at the University of Dundee, Scotland, eating a lot of stewed and oven roasted vegetables can be harmful to our teeth and stimulate tooth decay.
The researchers were analyzing chemical content of stewed vegetables cooked in oven for 45 minutes and in a traditional way (boiled in a pot on the top of the stove). They discovered that stewed squash, eggplant and green belly pepper have increased acidity, which can be compared to the acidity level in sodas, the most powerful destroyers of human teeth. Red peppers should be also associated with increased acidity and negative effects on our teeth enamel. At the same time, such vegetables as tomatoes and onions do not have high acidity levels whatever way of cooking is chosen.
“The acidity of ratatouille prepared by oven roasting is the same as that of some carbonated drinks that, when consumed in excess, are believed to contribute to the development of dental erosion,” Dr Graham Chadwick of the School of Dentistry, one of the leaders of the research, comments. The results of this interesting study were published in 2006 in European Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Acid erosion is one of the most common and dangerous dental conditions which affects modern people of all ages.

Dental Care and Medications

We all know so well that a good dental care includes a proper daily oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups and a low sugar diet. However, recently, Australian specialists point on one more important element of everyone’s dental care routine. After one of the researches carried out by dental experts in Sydney, it became clear that a great deal of medications and drugs we use on a regular basis are actually harmful and damaging to our teeth. According to the statistics mentioned at Perth Now, up to 40% of modern people regularly take at least one type of medications which are harmful to their tooth enamel.
In particular, there are a great number of medications which cause saliva reduction or ‘dry mouth’. This condition is quite dangerous for our normal oral hygiene because dry mouth brings to increased number of bacteria population on our teeth and tongue, slows down the processes of de-mineralization and tooth enamel reconstruction, this way creating a favorable environment and speeding up tooth decay. Also, our saliva contains special substances that can neutralize mouth acids which make our teeth decay. Therefore, using too many medications causing ‘dry mouth’ (like antihistamines, etc.) is connected with increased risks of having dental problems.
Some of modern medications are extremely acidic and can cause serious tooth decay. Those include some asthma medicines and others, and if taken for long period of time, they can be very dangerous for our oral health. Also, some medical syrups have a very high content of sugar, which is also harmful for our tooth enamel. If you are taking syrups on a regular basis, it is recommended to brush your teeth every time after your medicine is taken. In addition, such medicines as diuretics, immune-suppressive medicines, oral contraceptives and others are associated with increased risks of having various gum problems, oral ulcers, inflammation, etc.
It is also very important to remember that young children and teenagers are more vulnerable to the above mentioned negative effects of medications and drugs on their teeth, than grown-ups. That is why parents must control the use of antibiotics and other dangerous medicines. A special attention should be paid on the medications which contain fluoride, because it can be very harmful for the developing permanent teeth of children if taken in excessive amounts. Always consult your doctor or a health care specialist before giving your child one or another medication.

Aloe Vera, A New Remedy For Sensitive Teeth

Many effective dental care and dental cosmetics products include herbs and natural remedies as they are safe and can be used by almost everyone on a long-term basis. Recently, a group of scientists studied and analyzed therapeutic properties of such popular herb as aloe vera. Numerous scientific tests showed that this natural remedy can play an important role for treating many dental problems, including periodontal disease and dental cavities. The results of the study were published in such reputable magazines as Cosmetic Dentistry and General Dentistry (a journal of the Academy of General Dentistry).
Aloe VeraAloe vera is known for its rich content of useful elements and nutrients. During the experiments it became clear that aloe vera extract can not only heal small skin damages, have calming effects on our skin and prevent sunburn, but also fight against common dental problems. In particular, aloe vera extract can effectively assist in treating bleeding gums, help to reduce bad breath and  prevent the development of dental plague, as well as some other dental diseases.
Dr. Dilip George, one of the leaders of this study, underlines that aloe vera products contain anthraquinones which have perfect anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties, as well as excellent pain-killing effects. In addition to that, dental gels and other products based on this natural remedy will be less irritable and suitable for people with sensitive teeth. Thus, producing and marketing aloe vera dental gel is considered to be a new innovative approach in cosmetic dentistry and oral health care.
At the same time, Dr. Dilip George points on the necessity to continue the researches in order to find a special effective technology for manufacturing dental products with aloe vera. He underlines that using high temperature technology can “..destroy or reduce the effects of certain essential compounds, such as enzymes and polysaccharides“. Aloe vera dental gel will be more natural, safe and less abrasive denta care alternative perfectly suitable for everyone who faces he probem of sensitive teeth.

The Causes Behind Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth SensitivitySensitive teeth is a very common problem nowadays. If you feel dental pain and discomfort when eating ice-cream, biting a chocolate bar or sipping your morning coffee, as well as while brushing or flossing, there is a probability that your tooth sensitivity increased. Sensitive teeth can make you hate your favorite meals and turn your life into a misery. Fortunately, modern dental technologies can solve this problem very effectively, but in order to receive lasting effects of any treatment, it is essential to find out the roots of the problem.
There is a number of causes of tooth sensitivity (also called as dentin hypersensitivity). In the majority of the cases, the problems start when the gums that cover our tooth roots reduce and make our underlying teeth tissues (dentin) exposed. Those tissues are not as strong as tooth enamel or cementum, therefore, our dental nerves can be stimulated easily. That is why drinking or eating hot, cold, acidic or sweet meals causes pain and hypersensitivity.
The main causes of tooth sensitivity can be put to the following:
  • It is estimated that about 60-90% of tooth sensitivity is caused by improper and too hard brushing, or brushing with too hard brush. This frequently causes gum recession and dentin exposure.
  • Untreated cavities and plague also lead to sensitive teeth.
  • Gum disease and dental inflammation that is linked to gum disease may cause reduction of supporting ligaments, resulting in exposure of the tissues under the gum line.
  • Sensitive TeethDue to poor oral hygiene, tartar can from at the gum line, making tooth root more sensitive.
  • Experts say that prolonged mouthwash use can also cause sensitive teeth.
  • Tooth cracks, as well as cracks or leakage of old feelings can bring to increased tooth sensitivity.
  • Regular dental procedures, including gum surgery, tooth restoration, crown placement, etc., can make the tooth root exposed.
  • Excessive tooth whitening frequently leads to increased tooth sensitivity.
  • Bad habits like teeth clenching or grinding can wear out tooth enamel and bring to tooth sensitivity.
  • Consuming too much of acidic foods and beverages is another factor that can cause enamel erosion and sensitive teeth.
  • Specialists say that age also can play a role: it is estimated that tooth sensitivity peaks at the age 25-30.
  • Pregnancy and PMS are connected with increased tooth sensitivity in most of women
